if it was release bearing u would get a rough wuring noise until pedal was pressed never came across a ticking noise but would prob suggest something slipping or worn as when it's rotating it hits a high spot to make a click type noise, dos'nt sound oil related, is clutch working ok n pulling fine?

clutch seems to be working fine pulls well iv just had a engine fitted from a scrapage scheme car, only 70,000 on the clock, clean engine runs alot smoother than my last engine which blew a piston ring. There's no slipping from the clutch it engages fine. But the noise is a really slight tickin or tappin n it stops when I press the clutch
