still passed at a VOSA random checkpoint last night, fuckers are checking for illegal modifications with a roadside testing rig and if you cant sort it out on the roadside the had about 10 tow trucks round the corner.

Ye. my HID's passed as did the rest of the car but i fought the guy all the way on other things, the Corsa in front of me failed and they would have failed the fiesta ST behind me if the HID's hadn't been factory fitted they impounded another car due to chopped springs.

these guys were not MOT testers and dont know what there on about, they get you by hoping that you are clueless about MOT testing and other MOT rules, the police they had at the checkpoint were really pissed off and the one i had was a major help against the guy testing, i refused to let them use there jack as it was a standard hight job (they got hold of a low access one from somewhere), refused to let them in the car (even the copper said they had no right to open the car as it was obvious i didnt have after market seats), refused to switch on my fog lights (there not tested in the MOT so no need for them to test them), refused to rev my car up to the limiter to do a sound test (passed when i agree with 3k), then he tried to get me on not having a reversing light (even more shocked when i told him to go check the MOT Testers Handbook), then tried to get the copper to do me for illegal number plates (copper refused and said that the plate law didnt apply to pre 2001 cars).

In the end they had to let me go as i refused to co-operate (passed everything i did let them check) and the copper refused to do anything about me, as i got in he said "nice car, even i can see there's nothing wrong, and about the plates where did you get them, need a set for my RS6" so ended up chatting to him for ages proper petrol head, had golf, polo's (2 G40's when he was younger) and a corrado until he got the RS, proper sound guy and he said this will be happening more in the next few months, and the police are only there to keep the peace and then issue impound notices to cars deemed unsafe.

Currently its a Dyfed-Powys initiative but i dont think it will be only us for long.

Shocking thing is they still failed to miss the fact i had no handbrake...
